On November 24, 2022, CGU students met at Nishiyama Hall to attend an English and Japanese Speech Contest sponsored by the Department of Foreign Languages. Participants gave speeches on the topic of “Love”. Students challenged their English and Japanese skills by participating in the speech contest.

A total of 13 participants joined the contest. Six participants presented in English and seven presented in Japanese. Students from Japan as well as international students from Vietnam, Nepal, Thailand and Hong Kong were represented. Students had their speeches judged according to content, expression, appeal and fluency.

First place for the English portion of the Speech Contest was awarded to Maika Matsuo. First place for the Japanese portion was awarded to Nguyen Van An.
