Greetings, English learners! Today, we will study direct and indirect speech. This allows us to report what someone said in different ways. Let’s take a look at this mode of communication with some examples:
- Direct Speech: She said, “I love ice cream.”
- Indirect Speech: She said that she loved ice cream.
In direct speech, we quote the exact words spoken, while in indirect speech, we report the speaker’s words without quoting directly. So, next time you’re recounting a conversation, choose the right method—direct or indirect speech—to convey your message with clarity and style!
