April is a time of new beginnings at Nagasaki Wesleyan University. As the academic year starts, new students join our department, and returning students take on fresh challenges. It’s a perfect time to get outside, breathe the spring air, and enjoy the beautiful surroundings of Nagasaki.
To celebrate the start of the year, a Professor in the Department of International Studies joined with students to explore Nagasaki on road bike. On one day, we visited Suwa Shrine, a peaceful and spiritual place in the heart of the city. On another day, we rode along the coast to Yui no Hama beach, where the sea breeze and wide-open view offered a perfect moment of calm and inspiration.
Cycling is a great way to refresh your body and mind. It gives us time to think, enjoy nature, and connect with others. In the same way, this new school year is a chance to explore new paths—whether in your studies, friendships, or future goals.
To all our students and colleagues: let’s make this year meaningful. Stay active, stay motivated, and don’t forget to enjoy the ride.
